The PHD levels make great coaching tools.

By having students focus on passing the PHD levels, the lesson plan becomes more focused on the basics that the individual student needs to learn before advancing.
- The students progress is then sustainable and based on a solid foundation.
- The student learns to be an effective rider.
By focusing on the PHD levels, online and video coaching becomes much more effective.
- Students have a goal that the coach can relate the instruction to that builds one step at a time on the basics all horses need.
By focusing on the PHD levels, coaching includes the basics needed for any event.
- Any end goal event of a student can be achieved the only barrier will be the horses aptitude for the event
  - If a student wants to learn how to change leads then they need to pass levels 1-5
  - If a student wants to learn how to do a reining horse spin they need to pass levels 1-4,
  - If a student wants to have their horse run resistant free clock stopping barrel patterns then they need to pass levels 1- 5,
  - If a student wants a willing trail horse to ride the trails on they need to pass levels 1 and 2,
