..... ..... ..... ..... ..... ..... ..... ..... ..... ..... ..... ..... ..... ..... ..... ..... ..... ..... ..... ..... ..... ..... ..... ..... ..... ..... ..... ..... ..... ..... ..... ..... ..... ..... ..... .....
“Broke” is a term that is used to describe

a horses training level and their

willingness to accept cues from riders!

Horses can be:
  • Green Broke
  • Really broke
  • Kid broke
  • And A personal favorite HUSBAND BROKE!

Here is how IPHDA describes a broke horse!

A broke horse will:
  • Wait for its rider’s cues
  • Willingly accept and follow those cues
Thing to consider when talking about a broke horse:
  • Training went into creating that broke horse.
  • Broke does not imply what type of training or training method was used to create the broke horse

It is the training that goes into developing a

Broke Horse

that the PHD patterns are based on!

The IPHDA levels are designed to test a horses level of how broke in a progression. this allows every horse and rider to advance their knowledge without skipping any basics education that can cause problems down the road in their quest towards better horsemanship!

When a person says that their horse is broke enough to pass a certain level of PHD, that means they can  perform specific basic skills needed at each level of a horses training, while satisfying the IPHDA description of a Broke Horse!
