Here are some general comments from Mr Haverty. You all did a great job, I look forward to doing this again to see how you guys are improving. Everyone that rides in the snow should get at least a 2 point bonus! Everyone that rides when they can see their horses breath should get a 2 point bonus! Julie needs to find a place to ride away from the gun range, and she should get a point bonus for the fact her horse never even flicked an ear when all the shooting was going on!
Here are some general comments from Mr Haverty.
Mr Haverty felt many of the exhibitors could benefit from learning how to perform a proper half pass! He suggested that we show a video of a proper half pass, and how to perform one.
Here is a demo and explaination of a proper half pass

Judges and clinician critiques for June V show
Level 1 exhibitor 1:
Very Nice guiding and transitions Goes forward into the bridle with lots of cadence. Ready to be showing level 2, and working on Body control Exhibitor 2:
Had a few guiding issues, the transitions were ok Work on forward while accepting the bridle to create a softer more cadenced performance. Exhibitor 3:
Had a few guiding issues and a couple of the transitions could have been smoother. Work on forward while accepting the bridle, this will make it easier for you to communicate with your horse through the reins Exhibitor 4:
Good Guiding, Had some cadence problems needs to keep the forward motion. Work on forward while accepting the bridle to create more cadence to your horses gaits. Exhibitor 5:
No cadence to the gaits no extended Trot, the transitions were ok. Work on forward while accepting the bridle to create more cadence to your horses gaits. When you can push your horse into the bridle without them resisting you can then increase the length of their stride Exhibitor 6:
Horse was not willingly guided Work on getting your horse to accept the bridle, Exhibitor 7:
Transitions could be smoother/softer, guided well Work on Body control and start working on the level 2 maneuvers Exhibitor 8:
Guiding needs improving, needs to stop resisting your cues. Work on getting your horse to accept the bridle, Exhibitor 9:
Transitions could be better and guiding was an issue Work on forward while accepting the bridle, Level 2; Exhibitor 1
A little more arc to the half pass all other maneuvers very nice, Ready for level 3, by working on half pass at the lope the trot half pass will get much nicer, More body control drills with forward motion will improve your half pass as well. Exhibitor 2
Very nice Guiding and control, Just make sure your transition are correct, More body control drills with forward motion will improve your half pass and transitions Exhibitor 3:
Guiding through the bridle needs improvement Work on pushing the horse forward into the bridle consistently, set your hands and wait for your horse to come to you. Your horse moves off your leg well once you have the issue of accepting the bridle fixed this level will be easy for you. Level 3: Exhibitor 1
Needs improvement on half pass and was inconsistent guiding and transitioning Work on forward motion into the bridle and body control drills will improve the half pass and soften the transitions. Exhibitor 2
Scored 0 because of Back up in wrong maneuver, until that was doing average and above on most maneuvers. More body control drills with forward motion will improve the softness and help with the lateral motion by freeing up the shoulders Exhibitor 3:
Nice ride average and above most places Working on body control and using lighter cues while maintaining the softness you have created. Level 4 should be worked on Exhibitor 4:
Good circles and transitions nice soft control More body control drills with forward motion will improve your half pass, work on using lighter cues while maintaining the softness you have created. Level 4 should be worked on Exhibitor 5:
Good circles and transitions, resistant to your leg. More body control drills with forward motion will improve your half pass and the over all softness in your horse. Exhibitor 6:
Nice ride, average and above most places More body control drills with forward motion will improve your horses softness in the body this will help his stops, work on using lighter cues with your hands while maintaining the softness you have created. Level 4 should be worked on Exhibitor 7:
Only weak in the half pass, average and above everywhere else. More body control drills with forward motion will improve your horses response to your legs Level 6: Exhibitor 1
Just needs a little more guide in the spins, nice circles more body control drills and working on lightning your cues will make the spins more fluid Exhibitor 2:
Low degree of difficulty, broke gait in the left to right lead change. lightening your cues without loosing the softness will allow you to perform with more degree of difficulty. Body control drills while working on light cues will help Exhibitor 3:
0'd rolled back the wrong way, Low degree of difficulty lightening your cues without loosing the softness will allow you to perform with more degree of difficulty. Body control drills while working on light cues will help Exhibitor 4:
0;d extra circles. Low to average degree of difficulty More body control drills with forward motion will improve your turns and guiding. Exhibitor 5
Nice ride, Low to average degree of difficulty More body control drills with forward motion will improve your communication with the horse and allow you to raise the degree of difficulty.
