V show Awards
Starting with the October 2010 V show series,
IPHDA will use a 2 division handicap
award distribution system!
Masters division and Future Masters Division
- Award and jack pot distribution will be based on the percentage of mastering the individual levels.
- The payouts will be split into 2 divisions - Masters awards and Future Masters awards ( M division and FM division)
- The top percentage of the V show is
the winner of the M division
- The winner of the FM division will be the exhibitor whose percentage is 25% less than the M division winner
- Example:
- The
top percentage earned in the V show was 85% the winner of the M division awards is the person posting the 85%, second in the M division will be
the next closest to 85% etc.
- The winner of the FM awards will be the
exhibitor earning closest to 60% (85 - 25) the second place winner in the FM awards division would be the exhibitor next closest to 60% etc.
- We will split the awards and jack pot money 60% for the M division and 40% for the FM division
- If no one qualifies for the FM division awards, 100% will go to the M division
This means that as of the April V show all purse and award payouts will be made according to how well the exhibitor does against their individual level,(Percent of mastering their level, this is how we do the High Point awards now).
This change will make the calculations of purse and awards distribution simpler and offer incentives for people to enter that are not ready to pass a level.
This type of purse distribution works really well to increase participation at Barrel Races as it allows many more people a chance at winning some awards and purse money even if they are not the top in the event! Google search Barrel racing 4d system for a look at how it works for them!
