PHD competitions have horse and rider teams each trying to master the level of PHD pattern they qualify to ride in the competition. 

 

Each competitor is trying to master the level that they are riding

  • Each Pattern has a base score and the riders percentage of mastery goes up as they receive positive evaluation from our judges.

  • As each horse and rider's skills progress they are required to ride a slightly more difficult pattern in the PHD competitions

 

 

The PHD Competitions also pay out awards on a handicap system

 

  • The handicap system IPHDA uses is similar to the one created by the National Barrel Horse Association
  • Our 2 handicap divisions are called the Masters Division and the Future Masters Division
  • The Masters division starts paying out with the Top percentage earned in the show
  • The Future Masters Division starts Paying out at M - 25
